How to book:
BOX OFFICE OPENING HOURS
Monday - Friday 10:30am - 6:30pm.
Saturday 10:30am - 2pm.
Sundays & Bank Holidays closed.
BOX OFFICE BOOKINGS
You can book advance tickets in person or by telephone (01458 442846) during Box Office opening hours. In addition, the box office is open for at least an hour before a 7.30pm or 8pm show or film screening exclusively for ticket transactions for that day’s event. Please arrive in plenty of time if you need to collect tickets, pay for reservations or wish to buy tickets for the evening without prior reservation, as all our live events and films start at the advertised time (no trailers/adverts) and you may have to queue at the box office on a busy night.
ONLINE BOOKING
Online booking is now live on this site. Go to the home page and scroll down to your chosen event where you will find the “Book Now” link, which will take you to the NEAT online ticketing site. If you would like help, we have prepared notes to guide you through the process, and also further hints and information. You can find them on the NEAT site under “How to use this Site”.
It is currently not possible to book online for groups over 9 persons or patrons requiring wheelchair spaces. Please contact the box office if you require advice.
TICKET RESERVATIONS
Tickets can be reserved (at the box office, NOT online) for up to 3 working days before payment is required. Please take advantage of this if you need to check with family or friends whether the day/time/seats you have reserved are acceptable, as we are not usually able to alter a booking once payment has been made.
All reservations must be paid for at least half an hour before the show. Thereafter unconfirmed reservations may be cancelled if seats are required for other patrons.
Strode Theatre Vouchers
Strode Theatre gift vouchers make a lovely present for all film and theatre lovers. Vouchers come in various denominations down to 50p, and can be used as payment for any film/theatre tickets sold at the Strode Theatre Box Office (i.e. excluding events for which organisers sell their own tickets, like Crispin School performances). For purchases of vouchers to the value of £10 or more, we’ll throw in a complimentary Strode Theatre greetings card, too.
Our vouchers are available only from the Strode Theatre Box Office, either in person or over the phone.
Please note that we cannot accept external theatre vouchers in payment at Strode Theatre!
Facilities for People with Sensory and Mobility Impairments
ACCESS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Strode Theatre has a LEVEL ENTRANCE, ADAPTED TOILETS and a maximum of THREE WHEELCHAIR SPACES in the auditorium (these should be booked in advance.)
The Theatre has an INDUCTION LOOP for all films and most live events, which can be used by switching your hearing aid to the “T” position. The full benefit of this facility can be enjoyed between rows D and W.
4 PARKING SPACES for registered disabled car users are located directly opposite the Theatre entrance. Please be aware that the Theatre shares these with Strode College users, and that they cannot be reserved.
ACCESSIBLE FILM SCREENINGS
In addition to the traditional ‘hearing loop’ for people using hearing aids in the auditorium, our new DTS film sound system offers the following facilities for people with visual and hearing impairments:
Audio Description (A/D) is a service for partially sighted or blind people. While the film’s main soundtrack plays through the cinema speakers in the usual manner, users listen to a specially recorded narrator detailing what’s happening on the screen at selected breaks during the film’s dialogue, through a set of headphones. The headphones are personal and the user is still able to hear the film’s sound through the cinema surround sound speakers. We can offer this facility on all films marked DTS A/D, but please tell us of your requirements when booking, as we have a limited number of headphones. Please allow a few minutes before the screening to familiarise yourself with the headphones’ features.
Descriptive Subtitling (S/T) of English language films will be of interest to patrons with hearing impairments and anyone who wants to be sure not to miss any part of the on-screen dialogue. However, Descriptive Subtitling provides much more information than “normal” English subtitles (eg. on foreign language films). For example, they describe: when something is sung, rather than spoken; when significant music is happening (often with lyrics provided); and significant sound effects (such as a phone ringing).
We are offering this facility for selected screenings, which will be marked S/T. There will always be an option to see the same film without subtitles at other screenings.
NEW TECHNOLOGY, NEW CHALLENGES: The above access facilities are only available for films with a DTS Access disc. If you rely on these options for the enjoyment of a film, please check in advance with the Box Office on 01458 442846 to be sure that your chosen film has come to us in the right format.
